You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
Is therapy worth it?
Initially, the price tag on therapy might give pause. But consider this: what's the value of investing in your mental well-being? Research shows that, although there are no guarantees, many individuals experience significant and enduring benefits after around 10 to 12 sessions. Viewing therapy expenses as an investment in your long-term happiness and mental health might offer a new perspective on its worth. You are worth it!
Does therapy work?
Yes, therapy works! Research consistently demonstrates the effectiveness of therapy across various modalities and populations. Numerous studies have shown that therapy can significantly reduce symptoms of mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), addictions, and more. Meta-analyses, which combine data from multiple studies, consistently find that therapy produces moderate to large improvements in psychological functioning compared to no treatment.
For example, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), one of the most extensively studied forms of therapy, has been shown to be highly effective in treating a wide range of mental health issues. It helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors, leading to long-lasting improvements in mood and functioning.
Research also indicates that the benefits of therapy extend beyond symptom reduction. Therapy can improve overall quality of life, enhance interpersonal relationships, increase resilience, and promote personal growth and development. These findings underscore the significant positive impact that therapy can have in anyone’s life.
What should you expect after you contact us?
Once you've reached out to us via phone or email, we'll email you with the necessary intake paperwork, which we ask you to complete before your first session to ensure a smooth start.
The initial session is primarily dedicated to you sharing your concerns and goals. Your therapist will guide the conversation with thoughtful questions to gain a comprehensive understanding of your situation. Much like a visit to a medical doctor, this first session is about listening attentively to your needs to provide the most effective treatment.
Lots of people experience a sense of relief after the first session. From there, therapy becomes a collaborative process, tailored to your unique needs and preferences. Whether it involves active engagement with practical advice and homework assignments or a more reflective exploration of your circumstances, the approach will be determined by mutual agreement between you and your therapist in order to get the most beneficial outcomes.
